Chesterfield Canal

The Chesterfield Canal built in 1777 skirts the southern boundary of the borough. The towpath that runs alongside is 46 miles long and is said to be the prettiest in England (known as the Cuckoo Way).

See wildlife as you meander along the path or just rink in the tranquillity on offer alongside this once thriving artery for trade through Derbyshire, South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
