Walker Cannon

An original Walker cannon, made 200 years ago, is on permanent display outside the New Town Hall.

The magnificent Walker family were responsible for transforming Rotherham from country town into a major industrial area. This impressive iron and steel manufacturing family produced vast quantities of cannon, cast between the 1770s until the end of the Napoleonic Wars. In fact most of the cannon seen today on HMS Victory were made in Rotherham.

The Walker Cannon is located outside the New Town Hall, Moorgate Street, Rotherham.
