Lost or Stray Dogs

Dogs when not in the control of their owners can cause a range of problems, for example car accidents, dog fights and attacks on people.

From 1st July, 2008, South Yorkshire Police will no longer be responsible for Stray Dogs.  If you have found a Stray Dog please telephone Streetpride on (01709) 336003.

They of course can also not only cause a nuisance but also lead to unwanted litters of puppies.

In order to help keep stray dog numbers down, the council has a duty to seize any stray dogs. To carry out this activity we have a Dog Warden within the Enviro-Crime Unit in Neighbourhoods who carry out an enforcement and educational role.
