Licenses are required if you wish to:
- Sell goods and services on credit;
- Hire or lease goods (for more than 3 months);
- Offer hire purchase;
- Lend money to consumers;
- Issue credit cards;
- Arrange credit for other people;
- Debt collect;
- Advise people with debt problems;
- Run a Credit Reference Agency.
Licenses are not usually required if:
- You are only accepting credit cards issued by
someone else;
- You are lending amounts of credit or hiring goods
at a cost of more than £25,000;
- You only deal with limited companies;
- You allow customers to pay with four or fewer
instalments within a year.
