If you already receive Housing and / or Council Tax Benefit
You do not need to make a new Housing and Council Tax Benefit Claim. The Pension Service will send details of your Pension Credit entitlement to the Council's Housing and Council Tax Benefit Service.
If you are entitled to Guarantee Credit or Guarantee Credit and Savings Credit
You will be entitled to maximum eligible Housing Benefit; this is likely to be the rent you are charged less any rent restrictions and deductions for other adults living in your home (non-dependants).
If you are entitled to Guarantee Credit or Guarantee Credit and Savings Credit
You will be entitled to maximum eligible Council Tax Benefit; this is likely to be the Council Tax you are charged less any deductions for other adults living in your home (non-dependants).
If you are entitled to Savings Credit only
Savings Credit will be taken into account as income in the calculation of your Housing and Council Tax Benefit Claim. If you are entitled to a Savings Credit you may still be entitled to Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.
Reviews
The Council's Housing and Council Tax Benefit Service will carry out checks on claims, but it will not always be necessary to fill in a new form.
